THE TOP TEN MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENTS IN OHIO'S HISTORY

Check out the Ohio Historical Society's Collections Blog for a look at "some of the quirky, awkward, and humorous moments in state history."
http://ohiohistory.wordpress.com/

Curators from throughout the Society submitted their favorite "embarrassing moments" and then we voted to determine the Top Ten.

Several of the posts relate to the history of archaeology in Ohio, such as No. 10: "Ohio Antiquities are Treasured … in London" -- an embarrassing moment that actually had a lot to do with why the Ohio Historical Society exists today!

and No. 8: "Newark Board of Trade Finds a Curious Way to Save An Earthwork" -- a decision with repercussions that still resonate within the Newark community and beyond. (Make sure you read the Editor's note!)

The OHS curators hope that this list of embarrassing moments will provide as much enjoyment for you to read as it was for us to create. And maybe you'll even learn some history along the way!
